A tournament is a game event run by an organizer at a store, convention, or some other place where players can show up with squads\/decks\/armies\/fleets to compete against other awesome people who love the same game. In Poker, each player puts an initial contribution, called an ante, of one or more chips into the pot before the cards are dealt. Then there are one or more betting intervals in which players have the opportunity to bet on their hands. The goal is to minimize losses with poor hands and maximize wins with good ones.<\/p>\n
If a player has no desire to match the last raise, they can simply “check,” meaning that they want to stay in the pot without betting (unless someone else raises). However, if they check and nobody calls their bet, they will lose their ante.<\/p>\n
A royal flush is the highest hand, consisting of a 10, Jack, Queen, and King of the same suit; a straight contains five consecutive rank cards from one suit; four of a kind consists of four of the same card ranks; and two pair contain two cards of the same rank plus two unmatched cards.
