Poker is a card game that involves betting. It is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, with each card having a rank (Ace, King, Queen, Jack) and suit, although some variant games use different cards or add extra cards as jokers. The highest poker hand wins. Each player places a bet before the deal; players may call that bet by putting chips into the pot, raise it, or drop out of the hand altogether. A player can also win by bluffing, betting that their poker hand is better than it is, hoping that players with superior hands will fold and the bluff will succeed.<\/p>\n
There are many variations of Poker, but most require that one or more players make forced bets at the start of a hand, called the ante or blind bet. Once these bets have been placed, the dealer shuffles and deals the cards to the players, one at a time starting with the person on their left. The dealt cards are usually either face up or down, depending on the game.<\/p>\n
