Once all the players have 2 hole cards, a round of betting begins. Depending on the rules of the game, one player — designated by the position to his left — has the privilege or obligation of making the first bet. Each player must put into the pot at least the amount of the bet made by the player before him. This is referred to as “calling a blind.” A player may also choose to draw replacement cards for those in his hand.
